Here are some of the most common questions people ask before booking an appointment with Bluehouse Physiotherapy & Wellbeing.
We need to be able to see the body part you need examining. Ideally, that area should be exposed so we can assess it safely and effectively.
For example, wearing leggings or tight-fitting jeans for a knee, ankle, or hip assessment may make the assessment difficult or ineffective. We will usually also need to look at the other side for comparison, so simply rolling up one trouser leg is unlikely to be appropriate.
If you have a lower limb injury, loose-fitting shorts are usually the best option. Please avoid tight or restrictive clothing where possible, as we will analyse your movement as a whole.
For shoulder or back assessments, we may ask for clothing to be removed. Every effort will be made to preserve your dignity and modesty. If you are unable to expose the area, we will work around this as best we can.
If you are unsure what to wear, please get in touch beforehand and we will be happy to advise.
Yes. You are the patient, so it is entirely your decision whether you would like someone with you during your appointment.
You are welcome to bring a friend or family member. However, please bear in mind that we will take a detailed medical history, so you would need to be comfortable answering personal questions with that person present.
Yes. We are happy to see children aged 10 years and above. We can advise on a variety of developmental issues in teenagers and young people.
Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. If you are bringing a child, we recommend getting in touch beforehand so you can provide some additional details.
It is a common misconception that physiotherapy has to hurt. In some cases, you may experience some discomfort during assessment or treatment, but this will always be guided by you and minimised by a skilled practitioner.
Our aim is to make you better, not worse. Please communicate with your physiotherapist throughout your appointment so we can help you get the best possible outcome.
As healthcare practitioners, it is our responsibility to give you the right advice and help prevent your condition from worsening.
If your problem is not something we can treat, or if we feel another professional would be better placed to help, we will explain this clearly and recommend the most appropriate next step.
Our services are for self-funding patients only. We have chosen not to work directly with insurance companies at present, so we can maintain an independent pricing structure and offer patients more time without restrictions.
We do not currently accept insurance clients. However, receipts are available for self-funding patients who wish to claim back through their insurance company.
Please ask for more details if you are unsure.
